Historical aspect of mobile communication

Mobile business exponentially arose because of enthusiasm shown towards it in the Asia Pacific region and Europe rather than in the US. Use of wireless technology commercializes the internet and many businesses are engaged in extending their services to client in the virtual world. Business functions can be easily performed by mobile devices (Smith, 2006). However, the success of mobile business and adoption of mobile technologies depends upon ease of use of the specific mobile device and personal choice of the user. The success of mobile business also depends upon customer satisfaction of services offered by the organization. Mobile business incorporated through wireless technology changes the basic business structure because of increased information flow and interactivity. Mobile business applications such as banking transactions, location of places of recreation, awareness of ATMs and other surroundings (Melbourne goes mobile, 2008) and history of a place (Sydney sidetracks, 2008) make a person comfortable in a new place. Mobile business applications can be customized to provide information or services to specific customers. Thus, offering personalized purchase opportunity to the customer is a major benefit of mobile business, as for example allowing customers to make last minute purchase of gift items or book a specific seat in a flight (Kelly, 2007), so, customers can invest their dollar on the spot without having any need to go to any other business (Siau, Lim & Shen, 2001, p 5). In fact mobile commerce spells usability for the customer, who is or is made aware of its existence, enabling the specific service and making the transaction possible. The purpose of my literature review is to explore the current research trends to establish ease of use of mobile devices for the users with respect to Information Architecture for mobile devices and determine the gaps in those researches.
